Cross-listing guide

Cross-listing, explained.

Cross-listing means putting the same item up for sale on more than one marketplace at once. More buyers see it, so it usually sells sooner. The catch is keeping every listing in step, and taking the others down the moment it sells.

What is cross-listing?

To cross-list (or crosslist) is to list one item on several selling sites at the same time. A pair of trainers might go up on eBay, Vinted and Depop together. Whichever buyer comes first gets it, and the other listings come down.

UK resellers do it because each marketplace has a different audience. Vinted is huge for clothing, eBay reaches collectors and older buyers, Depop skews younger, Whatnot sells through live shows, and Discogs is where record buyers look.

Why cross-list?

  • More buyers see every item, so stock moves faster
  • You're not reliant on one marketplace's search or fees
  • Slow sellers on one site often sell quickly on another
  • You can price for each audience

The two problems with doing it by hand

The first is time. Typing the same title, description, photos and measurements into four listing forms is slow, and it gets slower with every item.

The second is selling the same item twice. If it sells on Vinted while it's still live on eBay, a second buyer can pay for something you no longer have. Then you're cancelling an order, which hurts your seller rating on most marketplaces.

How to cross-list step by step

  1. Create one master listing with good photos, an accurate title, condition notes and measurements
  2. Adapt it for each marketplace: category, item specifics, parcel size and postage
  3. Publish it to every site you sell on
  4. Keep a record of where each item is listed
  5. As soon as it sells anywhere, end every other listing
  6. Work out your profit after that marketplace's fees and postage

How a cross-listing app helps

A cross-listing app (or crosslister) does steps 2 to 6 for you. You create the listing once and send it to each marketplace. The app tracks where it's live, spots the sale, and ends the other listings.

RoundLemon cross-lists to eBay, Vinted, Depop, Whatnot, Facebook Marketplace and Discogs. Its AI writes the first draft from your photos and asks you rather than guessing when the photos can't confirm a detail. When an item sells, its other listings end automatically. On Vinted and Facebook Marketplace its browser helper fills in the listing form and you press Publish.

Questions

Good to know.

Is cross-listing allowed?

Listing the same item on different marketplaces is common practice. Each marketplace has its own rules, so read them. The key is to end your other listings as soon as an item sells, so you never sell something twice.

What's the difference between crosslist and cross-list?

Nothing. Both spellings mean listing one item on several marketplaces. Crosslist is also the name of a US-based app, which we compare on our RoundLemon vs Crosslist page.

Can I cross-list for free?

Yes. RoundLemon's Free plan includes cross-listing to all six marketplaces, automatic delisting after a sale, 1,000 active stock items and 5 AI-written listings a month, with no card and no time limit.

Which marketplaces should UK resellers cross-list on?

Most start with eBay and Vinted, then add Depop for fashion, Facebook Marketplace for bulky or local items, Whatnot for live selling and Discogs for records.
